A two-day industrial visit to Mundra Port was arranged by the Department of Maritime Management in September 2018. This visit included 56 students and 3 Faculty members. The intent of the visit to Adani Port was to make the students familiar with the operations of Ports and Cargos and give them a practical exposure of how Port works.
On the very first day of the trip, the students were taken to Adani Wilmar followed by Mundra Port. At Adani Wilmar, the entire process of oil production was demonstrated to the students. With these, the students came to know from the roots how an automated process from getting raw materials to manufacturing oil and supplying the finished products is executed. At Mundra port, the students gained insights as how the live operations at Port are carried out. This visit indeed helped the students to understand entire process of converting raw materials to finished goods.
On the second day of the visit, the students were taken to Adani Power. Using a model, the students were demonstrated how the process of power generation is carried out. Using a virtual execution model, they explained in depth the entire process of procuring coal to generating electricity. Not only this, how the generated electricity is distributed to different areas of the country was revealed.
Department of Maritime Management, B. K. School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University has organized the National Seminar Maritime 2018, with the theme on “Moving Forward - Trends and Challenges in Port and Allied Industry” on 5th October 2018 at Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat. The aim behind this was to bring together experts from the Industry, leading academicians, researchers & research scholars from different states of India to exchange and share their experiences about various aspects of Maritime on a common platform to discuss the most recent opportunities vis-a-vis challenges encountered in the field of Maritime.
